Utilising Various Information
Using Traffic Information
You can check traffic information transmitted by
the FM radio service through the Radio Data Sys-
tem (RDS) on the display. Such traffic informa-
tion is updated periodically. When you receive
traffic information about your route, the Naviga-
tion System automatically displays a icon inform-
ing you of the traffic information. You can also
select whether to recalculate the route to avoid a
traffic jam. (In this case, route calculation is car-
ried out by considering traffic information within
a 150 km (92 mile) radius from your current loca-
tion.)
Checking traffic information when no
route is set
If no route is calculated, you can check the Traffic
List by the following operations.
Press GUIDE button, Touch , Touch
Confirming traffic information
relevant to the current route

Touch Information in the Main menu,
then touch RDS-TMC.
The list of received traffic information is
shown.

Select events you want to view in detail
from the list.
Places (street names) where public events are
staged are displayed in the list.
1. Street name
2. Place name
3. Direction to the spot
4. Traffic information
Touching the allows you to check the
place on a map. (Traffic information with-
out positional information can not be
checked on a map.)
The characters of the event you have
already checked the detailed text informa-
tion will change their colour.
Manipulate the items by the following
method.
Touching an event you want to see allows
you to view detailed text information about
the event. If the information cannot be dis-
played in one screen, touch or to view
the remaining information.

Once the information is checked, touch
Back.
A list of traffic information appears.
Confirming traffic information on the
map
The traffic-related information displayed on the
map is as follows.
:
1. Name of the service provider, radio station,
etc. or frequency currently being received.

2. Icon to indicate the presence of a new traffic
information (within 5 minutes = green,
between 5 and 20 minutes = gray, 20 minutes
or more, or viewing the Traffic List = not dis-
played)
3. A line to indicate the length of the traffic jam
(displayed only when the scale on the map is
1 km or lower; Congestion: orange, Traffic
jam: red, Closure: yellow)
4. Icon for traffic incidents (appears only when
the scale on the map is 20 km or lower)
If you want to check traffic information details,
move the cross pointer onto the , etc. and
touch . This allows you to check place names
and other information.
